Rose Colored Glasses OSR and 5E Musings

Well, finally got to run a game of Labyrinth Lord with a group of old gamers and some of their kids and cousins.
I guess I look back at Old School gaming with rose colored glasses as the character creation compared to 5E was
a drudgery.

Without some kind of very nice preset character creation help built in like 5E has, the game can really be taxing on
your patience. Once everyone had their characters made we finally started to play.

Now mind you we were already a few hours late getting started. After playing the extremely smooth unified
mechanics of 5E (and my Back to the Dungeon RPG), I quickly realized that much of the old school systems are quite
clunky in comparison. We just had gotten used to how they work and wrapping our head around another system
can be hard.

Having used both 5E is pretty much an old school game (because of the design advice from RPG pundit) mixed with
some new school unified  mechanics which just simply flows better. It's not totally lethal like B/X games but it can be
once you have ran out of dice for a short rest AND if you have used the exhaustion mechanics. After that, it becomes
quite hard on the players once those buffers are gone.

The unified mechanic is pretty much Superior to any and all of the old school methods of task resolution. Why?
Because system matters if it gets out of the way of the game! Roll a D20 instead of just pulling out the various dice
for checking on sometimes the same thing. Some abilities use a D6 while as a thief they use a % so after coming
from the B/X, 2E background from my early days of gaming, it seems 5E mechanics are a sweet spot. Very simply
it just is way smoother than the old stuff.

I am pretty sure that I will be shelving pretty much all my old school games and for my fantasy fix will just be playing

Deep down gaming blues... Steppin Back PII

In the LAST depressing post about gaming life was not too good. I went through a creative phase with a rules light variant to everything called DUNGEONPUNK RPG but that excitement has waned as well. It's just a hard concept to write down it seems...I did get a surprising response but some nameless person one starred me. At least say why you think it sucks that bad... BUT anyway...

I get back into a creative mode for Back to the Dungeon RPG and start having ideas flow. Things keep coming to me. Then when I go to get my BttDRPG folder, it was simply gone. Not just kinda I set it somewhere there it is! NO! I mean it's now to the level of a paranormal event gone. I mean WTF where the hell is it gone!

I have looked every possible logical place I could have put it. I have looked into every possible illogical place I could have put it. I have looked for an entire month.

With the lack of response from my players and the entire universe making sure I can't game, no one would have or could have stolen it. I have much of it electronic but there are papers that cannot be redone from their moment of inspiration that are now lost.

None of that matters anyway as my attempts to create an ongoing campaign that actually allows characters to grow instead of game jumping and much to long sessions of making new characters for the next cool game continues it's onslaught.

The new group of players I pulled together for BttDRPG have slowly started the "hey I got this game we can try!" while the universe from the other direction foils any and all plans of gaming.

One of the chosen people that I chose for his game mastering skill surprisingly didn't even want to join my campaign vision YET he complains of game switching.

None of these people actually have more than five sessions of any one game. I have heard that three games is the average fro this little group. Piles of characters siting around. Now it is a part of my group. Meh!

There are groups out there actually developing their characters and actually having campaigns. I can't really try and rudely barge in with my vision.

SO if you are actually having life workout where you can actually get gaming to happen AND you actually have a campaign going, savor it. Some of us are watching life go by and can't do anything about it.

Can't Seem to Make Gaming Happen.

Been down lately. Real down. My main stress release is gaming but that does not seem to ever happen. I also seem to be the only Game master for Fantasy Gaming. Tried to collect a few other Fantasy Game Masters but they have failed to produce (even though many have claimed to be really good game masters.) or don't want to do it. I have tried for years to start an expeditionary campaign of old using Back to the Dungeon RPG which shares the workload between game masters but it never seems to happen.

You know when you are really on target with an adventure or module you write. You know when one is kinda half ass and sucks. Especially if you have been gaming since 81 yet my well written games lack fire. I am getting burnt out as a game master as well.

I can't really explain it other than many of my players are non adventurous adventurers.  I am not a killer GM but they are careful to the point of making the game boring at times.

They take NO chances save a few of the characters. One adventure (one claiming to be one of the best GMs in the world in his younger days) even suggested that the party go back to town because the dungeon was dangerous.

The party tends to not go the way of the adventure such as exploring a mountain in the distance that has nothing to do with the adventure or is a separate part of the adventure. Even throwing in blocker monsters does not stop the wandering.

People also don't always show up thus screwing up the continuum.

My terrible schedule also lacks any consideration for life. Around the middle of this year I worked almost 2 months straight then another month. I am about to work almost 4 months straight once again. I am afraid that may gaming group will die.

Back to the Dungeon V 2.0 Preview

A bit of BRAINSTORMING on what was sucking about BttDRPG as I tried to make an NPC.

It takes to long with all the damn features.

Time to burn it down!

Much of BttDRPG has been a failure.

Why? Well I went away from the roots of the original RPG and made a clunky game for the players.

While playtesting I noticed than most if not ALL of the features of the races and classes were ignored.

By the players and myself.

SO why even have them in the rules? Why not strip them down to their most basic presentation?

SO here I present to you the new STRIPPED down version of the Races in Book I.

2.0 RACES

There are many races some fantastic and some terrible that dwell upon these worlds other than humans. A few of the nonhuman races available for use as player characters are detailed in these rules. The details included in the racial descriptions below is kept to a minimum so that the players and the Game Master can come up with their own versions of the races. Most other details of the character are entirely the decision of the player.

Dwarf

Dwarves are a subterranean race that lives in homes carved deep into the mountains. They are slightly shorter than mankind but wider and stocky. They are know for their long beards (even a few of the Dwarf women), fine drinks, mining, music, art, and warfare against foul humanoids of the underworld.

Halfling

A race of small folk, half the size of mankind, with large hairy feet, that live on comfortable burrow homes. Halflings are know for their love of music, feasting, drinking, and smoking. Haflings tend to dress very well and be quite civilized.

Human

This is exactly like you are and they are considered the base race to create other races from.

Wood Elf

Deep within the ancient primordial forest live the rare wood elves. Elves are the same size as mankind but usually thinner and delicate framed and have pointed ears. They are skilled in warfare, art, magic, and music.

So there you go. Got rid of all of the modifiers, clunky rules, and the BS and just made it a few sentences of description. So what do you think?

So here now are the four basic classes...

3.0 CLASSES

The class descriptions are formatted in the following manner detailed below. There are many more possible classes and players and game masters alike should make up new character classes. These are the four most common classes: Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, and Wizard

Name: The name of the class being described.

Description: A short description of the character class in question.

Hit Points: The Base Hit Points granted by class plus your Constitution modifier. Each additional level it's only the #D roll plus your Con modifier.

CLERIC

A holy warrior and priest who can use all armor and weapons approved by their god. They also cast divine spells.

Hit Points: 8 + 1d8 per level.

FIGHTER

A person skilled in the arts of combat who can use all armors and all weapons.

Hit Points: 10 + 1d10 per level.

ROGUE

Anyone who practices stealth and thievery as well as sneak attacks. Prefers to use lighter Dexterity weapons.

Hit Points: 6 + 1d6 per level.

WIZARD

Anyone who has learned the ways of Magic and how to harness it's power. Armor is not normally worn by Wizards because it interferes with the casting of magic. Wizards prefer to use a dagger, staff, and sword as these can be tools in rituals but can poorly use any weapon.

Hit Points: 6 + 1d6 per level.

Do you really need anymore description? Of course this is the rough draft but compare these descriptions to my 1.7 versions.

Much more simple and much more to the heart and root of what you need in an RPG.

Roll attributes

Just pick a race and class

Roll gold

Buy stuff

Start playing in less than 5 minutes!

Much of the Game Master's sections will stay the same.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Musings of a Mad Wizard Gamer.

Not going to shelve the game. GM burnout with bouts of creativity THEN bouts of doubt. Version 1.7 is going to stay for awhile longer as I just want to make modules and maps. Not as organized as I would like , but was the original game not a total mess? I fixed and streamlined the problems with magic (see document) on spells per day and such. In earlier version casters could cast so many spells that it made it hard to keep track of. That has been fixed. It is the game that I have always wanted to run. It has that simplicity of rules that allow one just to create with a few of the modern options pegged on.

Was greatly inspired by stories of how they were first forming Blackmoor and then Greyhawk. Have also been inspired by Ed Greenwood's stories of his forgotten realms. The Ryth Chronicles also has made creative juices flow. Stories of the West Marches of Ars Lundi. The Dark Ages Campaign of Chogowiz. The Watchfires and Thrones campaign of Micheal Curtis in The Archive of the Rotted Moon. Philotomy's Musings of the Mythic Underworld. I want to create really cool worlds. Starting small and then continuing on. My Little Barony, Raven's Keep, and the megadungeon The Black Stairs is going on 7-8 years old now. I have ran it using Swords and Wizardry, OSRIC, LL/AEC, Pathfinder (too much work!), and finally Back to the Dungeon RPG!

The maps and the stories are about to expand! I have decided to flesh out my world a little bit more.

Stranger Gamer

The Stranger in Saint Antonio
He walks in and finds some friends. Gamers like him who let him hang out. A stranger once a young, a gamer now old and from out of town.

They play their games that groups of players do. Complicated and confusing the new and improved games are. The stranger knows rules old and new. He understands them all. The theory the goal of the rules. Most crush themselves under their own weight.

The players could be having so much more fun! Stop and look at the book, stop and look at the book! Stop and look at the book, stop and look at the book! Stop and look at the book, stop and look at the book! Less play but a rule for everything! Stop and look at the book! The poor game master looks tested.

The stranger now older and wiser offers them a glimpse of the olden days. Something that was magical and simpler yet elegant. He offers them a real test of wits! An adventure!

An ancient city teeming full of adventure. A giant dungeon full of secrets, monsters, and deadly traps! The stranger exclaims with very much excitement and charisma!

The younger gamers only versed in the new ways look in wonder! They are taking the bait! I can now run the game they way it is supposed to be! They did not seem to be having any fun their way.

The older jaded gamer in their group says “Nay I am tired of standard fantasy gaming. Thanks but no thanks”. The younger gamers follow! Not knowing as their mentor and hero speaks to his way of gaming. Never getting to try out Old School.

A few of the older gamers also in following say “not interested in the old school thing” as if it is a disease! They too are followers. If the stranger could just show them once! Their mentor seeming satisfied and wanders off with his following.

The stranger is once again disappointed but this is nothing new. Many days and nights of adventures lost to stubborn players back home who only want to play the new complicated rules yet they can't run them. The stranger can but take no joy in running overcomplicated crap.

The stranger post upon the winds that he is here and a few old schoolers reply. Some out of town and some reply and ignore. The stranger is saddened. He sees his time is short in the city.

They do not reply. His weekends go by. Alone a stranger in this city. A kindred spirit of these other gamers yet they do not invite him or they have something other to do. Others are too far away.

Now his time has ended in this city. Here the old school is as dead as it is back at home. He solemnly puts his books up and stashes his dice bag. He will not miss this city as much as he thought.

The stranger writes this before it happens. All of the old schoolers say READY TO GAME as he leaves the city. But alas it is too late! Eldrad the Wizard is gone and is no more...

None here in this city will get the chance to adventure in his world as told by Eldrad. A world in need of brave foolhardy adventurers...
In a Little Barony far far in the Western Frontier...

Is the BlogOSRsphere dying off?

Is the BlogOSRsphere dying off?

It seems to be waning a bit.  Oh there are people who post quite a few times a week but not like it was just a few years ago. It is kinda nice to be able to keep up with the blog post though.

It is very much alive though!

Some of the main players have stopped posting or have slowed down to a mere trickle. Some have fallen to scandals or have made scandals.

Still every day there is at least something interestingly posted for the love of the game.

I know that I am here for the long haul whatever that is even though my blog is one of the least of the OSR blogs.

It seems that the OSR has not really moved forward at all if you compare the post of Chicago Wiz way back in 2011.

Does something needs to happen publishing wise to get the OSR ball rolling again? I don't think that is ever going to happen (save the release of Adventures Dark and Deep but that's just me getting excited about a product that I have yet to buy) again.

People are still going to publish Retro Clones (Neo-Clone, Simulacrums, Fantasy Heartbreakers, etc.)  but the chance for glory has passed.

I hope to be proven wrong on that statement but we shall see...

People seem to be very happy with the RPGs they are playing.

What needs to happen that would re-excite (Like it was a few years ago!) the BlogOSRsphere? I think people getting out there and playing and posting about it.

Some sort of organized play starting on a local level and then possibly becoming state, regional, and then possibly national and posting about it.

TARGA needs to come back.

Some really good ground breaking home made modules and house rules!

New race and class options!

Wait, that still is going on !

In my area, RPG Gaming seems dead though rumors of groups existing in secretive insular little clans. Old School Gaming locally has a few small sparks but they never seem to ignite. If there is an OLD campaign that has existed since the late 70s and early 80s in my area I don't know about it.

What to do? What to do?

Once again the famous disappearing half of the document!

Once again the famous disappearing half of the document! Yippie! Yay! the joy of having my feet kicked out from under me once again! I selected a few monsters for an introductory module. Everything below that point just disappeared. I looked over the entire document before I closed it satisfied with all the work I had done. A few hours pass. When I opened it a few minutes ago half of it was missing.

But this time I did do a half decent job of saving HALF my document but for fucks sake what the hell is going on that half my goddamn document just goes poof? For the second time! That settles it the document is going back to being separate booklets while the deleter demons are on the goddamn rampage.

I have been editing and creating documents for years now and have never had shit like this happen.

NOTHING pisses me off more when something is working fine and such and then suddenly goes boom and then the next minute starts working like nothing ever happened. I would rather shit catch on fire and burn the hell down that to have idiopathic bullshit quirks. Ever since OO did their update the spellchecker half worse and editing documents is crap! They are supposed to get better every year but they have gotten progressively worse.

Utter contemptible piece of s#!+ !!!

Utter contemptible piece of s#!+ !!!

Well once again the gods have pissed upon me. Half my master document has simply disappeared. Like 40-60 pages of document. From below the druid spell list on back just simply disappeared.

XXXXXX IT!

I have it in PDF form from 11 24 2012 but it will have to be completely redone unless I have another old copy saved back and a huge amount of work is lost from that time. It will have to be all reformatted and refitted.

SCREW YOU UNIVERSE!

It happened on 11 29 2012 at 8:00 pm. when I copied and pasted my spell list to assist me in creating magic items on a test file all information below that point just went poof for no other reason than to be a dick of a universe.

I have copied and pasted shit thousands upon thousands of times with no fail on shit that really didn't matter to me.

I would have been kind done with this stage and in full playtest mode but the gods suck and are cruel.

Maybe I ought to just delete all of it...

[Novel RPG] A even more simplified concept.

I am trying for a Nearly Free Form Game concept. I have discussed this concept before in the past and have tweaked it a bit. In play testing this game really flowed. Many of the rules lawyers I know would not touch it for some reason.

When you want to do something you roll a D20. The higher you roll the better the outcome. How high you need to roll is determined by your described skill and the amount of difficulty assigned by the game master. A natural “1” is a complete failure and a natural “20” is a complete success. I did have a clunky chart that I have since gotten rid of.

WRITING INSTEAD OF ROLLING A CHARACTER:
When you want to make a character you need to forget all that you know about attributes, hit points, and anything else you have learned from other RPGs. Remember what you have learned on Free Form RPG boards on the Internet. If they work there they will work here. There is a dice roll mechanic but it exist “outside” the game itself. The players write up Characters and give the Characters reasonable powers and equipment based on the power level being played. The game master will have the final say on “how powerful” your character is.

First chose a power level of your character.
Depends on the setting...
For example...
Is your character the most badass swordsman of the realm? Is he a weary smugger on the lost galaxy? Is he a powerful super hero that can fly, lift trains, and is bulletproof?

Third elaborate on the character's concept.

Here are a few guidelines called the 8 Ms. Discuss the 8 Ms of the character concept if they are above or below average. If they are average then don't waste your time describing them.
-Might or how resistant to damage and harm.
-Muscle or how strong you are compared to an average human.
-Moves or your agility and speed.
-Mind as is how strong mind is and will power.
-Manipulation as in your personality and manipulative ability.
-Martial as in your raw brawling ability.
-Missile as in your accuracy at ranged combat.
-Mystical is your intuition and ability to manipulate arcane forces.
What is his physical description? What is his personality?

Forth discuss your Powers, Abilities, Devices, and Skills.

How powerful they are and what they do. It's fine to add an array of powers, devices, and abilities just don't go overboard. What do you have equipment wise?

Fifth is background.

Does your character have a life other than super heroics? What does he do for a living? What hobbies does he have? What is his social status and wealth? Many of these backgrounds will provide skills and abilities that may provide useful in some game events.

Sixth is Mental and Physical Condition

Does your character have a bad back? Is he afraid of the dark? Has he an addiction to drugs? Is he completely healthy? All these are noted on the sheet. This is also the area where you note damage from combat. With no hard numbers there are no hit points just descriptions.

Seventh is Possessions and Wealth

You and the game master get together and discuss your hero's possessions and wealth and then your income as well as personal items such as a home and vehicles.

Eighth guideline is all these “rules” are just guidelines! The point is to have fun!

Game Master Section

If a character tries to do something and is able to do with ease the charter succeeds. If there is a pivotal time in the adventure the Character rolls on the chart. The roll is not modified in any way. The result is read from the vantage of the skill of the character. For example if a skilled person and an unskilled person both roll an 8 it would mean different things for each Character. A skilled person may have his result described far better while an unskilled would not have done as well. A bad roll is not always a failed attempt to do something. It also can be a change of plot against the positive flow of the Story. This is actually a good thing as it makes very exciting stories.

Combat

Each player declares what they are doing based on their descriptions and power levels. Each player rolls and attack and defense plus any other rolls they are doing. The higher result usually wins unless the other player pulls a cool stunt or is just far more superior.

Damage is judged from the weapon used, the protection offered from cover, armor, and stamina and the result of the Plot Roll. Make it dramatic!

The effects of combat can be very detailed from a detailed description of each body area to a simple Uninjured, Scratch/Beat Up, Injured, Severely Injured, Incapacitated, and Dying. It all depends on how you want to run the game.

It is up to the players and the game master as well as the dice to figure out where your character stands. Mental states can be done this way as well.

You have to decide how much damage or effect was done according to the power and skill level described in the characters text minus any relevant defenses.

Some more rantings about CFRPG

The CFRPG is going really well. Editing is happening in spurts in DnD Charlie's life. Far more than I could do being CUT OFF from a full computer and the internet and having severe ADD.

I was having some deep gaming thoughts while trying to cope with work the other day. Agree or disagree with this philosophizing.

Old School = Less Rules but with More Restrictions
New School = More Rules but with Less Restrictions

We all know the More and Less part of the Rules.

What many players DON'T like are the Old School restrictions. Like what? For example in many Retroclones Elves can't be rangers or druids? Why? They live in the freaking woods. It would seem natural that they would be able to be rangers and druids but these restrictions are held onto and in my opinion need to be written out of the next generation of Simulacrums.

Damn these sacred cows!

For many new players the cat is out of the bag on races being able to play the class they want. Every time I pull out an Old School game and start explaining the restrictions of what class each race can play the "this sucks!" face comes out and they just don't play.

This is with new and old players alike. Level limits do the same thing. They chase away players and can't really be explained without forcing the story.

Now I understand that a DM could force his story to explain the rules but that restricts in a small way some of the stories freedom and the player's fun. Now it may not restrict it at first but when your demi-human goes down every time due to lack of hit points and progresses so slow that the player gets bored and gives up because he is not having fun anymore what then?

I want as many race and character options as I can get to be able to play what I want but without the game ever getting rules heavy and I really think the CFRPG has done this very well.

Most of all it's easy to run and easy to play. Fast flowing and large combats are very manageable by Player and GM alike.

The CFRPG will be know as a Neo-Clone as it it's going to be somewhat a Retroclone but with many of the modern options. Most of all it will be easy to run and easy to play! Easy to make a character in about five minutes.

I know the purpose of the retro-clones were to be able to recapture the Old School Style of gaming but so many of the ridiculous restrictions restrict the fun while so much of the New School Style's huge multiple volume rules you have to stop and look up or can't play without computer cut and paste assistance restrict the fun as well.

Now I don't stand here upon a hill poking bears with sticks challenging the powers that be I just have my opinion formed from my observations of what is going on with gaming here lately.

Oh did I also mention that there are plans to have a published version of CFRPG but like many of the clones out there I plan to give it away for free as well. Not only that the books will be in a format to print them out yourselves and put a cardboard cover on it making it look very close to the size and style of the LBBs.

There may even be a small business opportunity in printing them out yourself as well.

BLAH

Due to lack of time interest and drive I am putting CFRPG on the backburner and just working with LL/AEC for now and my setting. When I get a good few weeks off with money in the bank I may sit back and finish...or...start and stop on it again.

Writing a game is hard...

If any of you in the Yahoo Group want to work on the skeleton that I have feel free to do so. For the love of god someone please correct my grammar and layout.

What Do YOU want out of a Classic Fantasy Role Playing Game?

What Do YOU want out of a Classic Fantasy Role Playing Game?

So what I am asking is for the people who have not made their own Old School Rules (but want too!) is to join with me in making the ultimate/kinda good mixture of Old School with New School Options rules set.

This game may be the ANSWER that you have been looking for.

Hobbyist need to apply! Join me and at least get credit for helping make this game. Are you are sick of the Simulacrums that repeat the rule restrictions of the old days.I never really liked Race Classes. No skills and feats! Quick to make a character. NO FULL PAGE MONSTER STATS!

EASY to run and EASY to play!

This game could be the ANSWER that you have been looking for. If not still have fun with what you like to do!

Join me at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/CFRPGOSR/.

IF you are not satisfied with what rule systems are out there then Join us!!!
We need to combine the new school with the old school to achieve the gaming independence that we truly want!

You need and want to have a game that is simple to create a story. As a GM in the CFRPG you CAN create any story you want.

The goal is to make one complete rulebook then from there expand by making Books of Magic, Monster Books, Class and Race Books all made by others. Of course it will have to go through approval process but nothing too stringent.

I plan to if ever I finish my/our game to have it free and/or cheap.

If you want to help then join my Yahoo Group.

PS: Send me your email and I will send you a copy as well. Be warned it's not edited or finished.

Feats defeat.

Well why were Feats created? In new school gaming the idea was to provide a way to do cool things.

Like tripping someone.

But why do you need a Feat to do things?

In a game with Gamemaster Fiat things such as a bullrush, trip, sundering of a weapon were done on the fly by adding a few points of difficulty to the too hit number or subtracting from the player's roll.

Wow in this short article I just provided you with an unlimited source and list of feats.

How the hell do you do it?

Oh lord it is really hard! Get your minds out of the gutter slimes! It's really hard to write a freaking game. Even simulacrums that many accuse of it being "just copying". Well you shut the F*&^%K up and try to do it yourself. Oh I didn't think so Beeearch!

Many of us have "a take on what we would like to see" and THINK we can do it to but NOOOO! You won't and you can't. Either no free time or not the patience when there is free time. I envy those with that little extra spark that can get off their ass and write a game.

Hell trying to write up a decent module with production value is a task as well.

Lord knows I have built and burnt down my take on the OSR rules and such. Then loooooooose interest and then write a few lines. Should I truck on or gather a team? Should I just write a supplement of house rules? Damn a game is a huge undertaking!

SO my question to all writers and creators is : "How the hell do you do it?"

My perfect Classic Fantasy RPG Again!

Take the simplicity of 0E and S&W.

Add attribute modifiers of B/X.

Attribute checks like D20 and C&C per the class.
No skills or feats!

Add many of the classes of D20 3.5. At least 15 classes.
Cleric, Thief, Wizard, Fighter, Barbarian, Druid, Bard, Sorcerer, Assassin, Paladin, Knight, Ranger, Monk, Psionic, and Warlock.

At least 10 races.

Simple spell list at first as I have killed myself in past efforts with a "big ol spell list".

Monsters as simple as 0E and S&W. As many monsters as possible.

Old school art. Self published.

Got 99 problems but a dice ain't one.

Well I am still on a job that has been going on for the last 42 days at 13 hours a day. Stuck in El Dorado, Ar a place void of all game shops. Thought I did meet an AD&D2nd player. There are maybe 20 gamers is all of mid south Arkansas. Was sick tonight. The first time I ever missed a day on the road EVER.

My two gaming groups are falling apart as I am not there to keep it real.

EDITED out the details...

How will this effect our group? Damn I wish people would act right...

NOW for something completely different.

I watched all the players seemingly have fun with my S&W game. I typed out all the cool things that happened. Was I deceived by those nights of gaming and great story flow? BUT now I find out that nobody seemed to like it as it was not 4th edition.

WHAT!?!
I really do love the 4th edition in may ways as it has a great flow and is definitively far more simple than 3.5.

Some of the players are so very defensive of "their" 4th edition that they will play nothing else. I have even been told by one player that he has invested lots of money in 4th and that's all he is gonna play. I guess they seem to forget my entire 14' x 20' mead hall full of games.

They ain't invested nutin compared to me. I have been at it for 29 years!

Nuff said on that!

My plans are to play 4th edition when I get back. Write some 4th edition adventures. Try and run my S&W sandbox setting with my daughters and their friends and maybe some of mine.

Well ANON!
