STARCLADS RPG

Note: This is a play test version!
V.5 coming soon.
STARCLADS
Rules for Science Fiction Adventures
Version 0.358
Role Playing Adventures in Science Fiction
The story so far…
There has been a terrible war that has left the systems in turmoil. There are many dead planets out in the galaxy that no side won as the war itself ruined the planets.
The year is guessed at somewhere around 21,777 give or take 20 years either way. Much of the records of the 10 million inhabitable planets and the 300 billion stars are lost as well as most of past history. The planet Terra is a lost legend from long ago although some of its churches and cultures still do exist in much evolved forms. It was found that humans were all over the galaxy and even in some other galaxies that have been explored. Many of these humans have changed or been modified into very strange sub-races.
There are many sections of the universe that are suited for different styles of play and one can feel free to add another section as much of the STARCLADS universe is unexplored or undocumented due to the great collapse.

This game is first and foremost a Space Opera styled RPG. It also has the features of an economic game with fortunes being made and lost.

STARCLADS is also a very dramatic Tactical Space Combat War Game.
I hope you enjoy creating your own section of the universe as these rules are toolkits that allow for character development, Colonies, Exploration, and huge space battles!
You can create any character or race you want. You can design any starship of any size or scale.
You can randomly explore space with a complete star system generator that creates the planet type, what vaulable natural resources that can be harvested, alien life forms and races.
All in a very simple rules light system.

STARCLADS 2d6 Rules Light Simple Science FIction RPG PDF Rough Draft Play Test.

STARCLADS 2d6 Rules Light Simple Science Fiction RPG.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzYaSvmA-OpUSXRjM1AtbDIwb00/edit?usp=sharing

It is in a very rough draft form.

So simple to make Sci Fi Adventures!

For example here is a character made in less than 5 minutes.

I roll for Might, Moves, Mind, and Manipulation 1d6+3 each.

Might 6
Moves 6
Mind 6
Manipulation 9

I kinda like this guy. He is faily average in the physical and mental but he is quite a manipulator.

Maybe I could make him some sort of entertainer?

Entertainment – You are a star of stage and screen. You are some sort of
entertainer. You have a fancy wardrobe and live a life of luxury. Most
Entertainers are owned by their Corporate agent and are on a life provided
by the corporation. You don’t pilot or drive as the Corporation provides all
this for you. You only stay in fancy hotels and apartments provided by the
Corporation.
Starting Equipment: Many Sets of Fine Clothing, and 5000 credits

Nah maybe a diplomat or blind face of a local planetary government?

Bureaucrats – Bureaucrats are the living red tape or lubricant of any
government system. They can be very helpful if motivated. Most are
untrained in any sort of combat.
Starting Equipment: Suit, Hover Car, Comlink, and 1000 credits.

Hell money is power and the Corporations have it all! New nobility of the Sectors!

Corporate – Corporatist are the movers and shakers of the universe. They
are the managers and supervision of the corporation s that employ everyone.
They don’t tell people how to do their jobs they tell people to do their job.
Fine suits and high living is the way of the Corporate. Corporations in
STARCLADS are ruthless cutthroat operations that act as governments unto
themselves. Most starting Corporatist have no combat skill but they gain
some throughout the years.
Starting Equipment: Fine Suit, Luxury Hover Car, Comlink, Translator,
Laser Pistol and 5000 credits.

So I make him a corporate. Cool. I could have just made something sles up and went with it. Me and the GM could have picked out the appropriate equipment and just got started playing.

NOVEL: Free Form Fantsy and Sci-Fi, Plus super simple Space Mini/Card Board Chit battles.

SO what kind of cliches could one have for a fantasy game in a NOVEL free form RPG?

What about Sci Fi? I really don't like how my free from version of Starclads came out so I might just rewrite it. Turn it into a Zine.

In a free form game one should keep up with cash and such should they not?

Now to Space Mini/Card Board Chit Battles!

I am thinking about making ship battles be very stat heavy NOT! Just one number from 1 to 20 called Defense or DEF.

If that number or greater is rolled then the spacecraft is destroyed.

I think it would be cool to have huge space battles. I guess I would have to add in move and ranges if I used minis but that would not be that difficult.

In very rare cases there may be an more powerful weapons subtract from defense BEFORE the dice is rolled but no more than -5. Most of those weapons will be one shots or very few shots.

Order of Combat
1. Each side rolls initiative on D20. Go in highest to lowest.
2. All parties move in order.
3. All parties attack in order.
4. To attack roll a D20. If the number is DEF or higher the unit is destroyed.
5. Some limited weapons may subtract from the target's DEF before the attack is made.
6. Restart back at Step 1.

That's all there is to it.

Axis Space Forces

5 Dreadnaught Battle Cruisers DEF 15 Move 2" Range 15"

20 Fighters DEF 5 Move 5" Range 1"

1 Dread Star DEF 20 Move 1" Range 10"
(5 Shot Planet Killer -5 to Target's DEF Range 20")

Dread Order Imperium

10 Antares Fast War Ships DEF 12 Move 4" Range 5"

30 D.I.E. (Double Ion Engines) Fighters DEF 4 Move 6" Range 2"

The Axis Space Forces have found the dirty Dread Order Imperium and their horrible clone army. All clones of Emperor Snull! They have been ransacking the frontier for decades! Now it's time to get some revenge!

Get some representative tokens or pieces to fight this battle out!
